The product, which is a white or off-white crystalline powder, is a potent and highly selective anti herpes virus agent for treating shingles (herpes zoster) infected by herpes virus of skin, and for treating and suppressing recurrent episodes of genital herpes infection. The medicine is also used to treat recurrent herpes virus infections of mucous membranes (lips and mouth) and genitals in HIV-infected patients. It also has relative good treatment effect for virus hepatitis.
